About Me

sciolism (n.) A pretentious attitude of scholarship; superficial knowledgeability.

Funny what you remember. I heard this word from Tony Randall on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.  He seemed to have a wealth of facts and trivia at his disposal, and he told Carson that the secret was simply “to retain everything you were supposed to have learned in elementary school.”

I am a writer from North Carolina who spends his days writing technical manuals for a large software company. This blog encompasses my many interests: Statistics, French Language and Literature, Education, and other trivial matters.

Background: native of, and still resident of, North Carolina.

Education: B.A. in mathematics. B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in mathematics education.

The Master has become the Doctor! Stumbled on your blog and thought I’d challenge you to a fight in the parking lot. Take it easy, Dr. Creighton.

Hi Lee–

I’m currently working with Hasbro, Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc. on their new SCRABBLE ® game for Facebook.

I found your site while searching for people interested in playing Scrabble on Facebook and want to invite you to be part of an exclusive closed BETA test of the new SCRABBLE® game for Facebook.

If you accept the invitation, I hope you’ll share your experience with your site’s readers. And, of course, we’d also love for you to share your thoughts on the game with us directly.

If you’re interested in becoming one of the first to play EA’s new SCRABBLE game for Facebook, simply reply (please mention your blog name) and I’ll send you quick directions for joining the BETA test.

Thanks so much for your time—
Best,
Victoria
